Stories

“Geschichten” (Stories) is my blog. Since 2012 I have been writing here about the theatre and my books, about encounters with my audience, about faith and about my own path. Between poems and psalms there is a recipe for tuna lasagne, invented characters such as Greta K and announcements of readings. The texts are open, sometimes cheerful, sometimes very serious. Reading them, you get to know me from a personal side. The posts themselves are in German.

Touching people

After a performance in Braunschweig a nurse wrote down her impressions. Her text is called “Endlich wieder lachen” (Laughing again at last). I share it on the blog, because for me it is a lovely moment: artists touch people, and they pass on a cheerful and clear message.

A baby bracelet from 1964 is the starting point for these thoughts about my own life, about Germany and Europe, about helpfulness and prayer. At the end there is a scene from everyday life: my son Julius invites me to play backgammon. “Come on, Dad! Take a break.”

A summer in Bad Hersfeld. “I am infatuated with my profession.” I tell of the team, of the neighbours and their Café Landlust, of Ariane Mnouchkine and her Théâtre du Soleil, and of the film “Molière”, which showed me: I am an actor.
