The Jury Experience

In “The Jury Experience – Death by AI” I played the judge. The audience sits in the courtroom as the jury, hears the witnesses, examines the evidence and decides at the end: guilty or not guilty.

The case: a self-driving car has killed a person. Who is to blame? The person who wrote the code, the person who trusted the machine, or the AI that made the decision?

The cases are set in the USA, and the audience sits right in the middle of the courtroom.

The organiser is Fever. Directed by Jeffrey Döring.

From March 2026 I appeared as the judge many times in Leipzig, Dresden and Erfurt, usually in two performances a day. Among other dates:

“I treat myself more kindly now”

In autumn 2025 I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My son had pointed out to me during a visit that I was short of breath and no longer felt comfortable in my own skin. I am grateful to him for that to this day.

Since then I have changed my diet, I get plenty of exercise, out with my dogs and doing sport, and I keep an eye on my blood sugar with a monitoring system. My new favourite food is broccoli, my new favourite drink sparkling water with freshly squeezed lemon.

The full story is in “Gut leben mit Diabetes”, issue 9/2026.

Du! An einem dieser Tage (You! On One of Those Days)

Markus Majowski with his solo show “Du! An einem dieser Tage” (You! On One of Those Days).

An evening about those days when the soul takes a wrong turn and the body trots along behind. About those days when a yoghurt suddenly becomes a life decision, your own head has 47 open tabs and your mother has long known how Germany ought to be organised.

Markus Majowski tells stories from his life. About getting older and getting up, about the body and about food, about mindfulness and addiction, about love and sexuality, about public outrage, religion and radicalisation, about money, gold and debt. And again and again about his mother.

She lives in a retirement residence, keeps lists, organises her surroundings with astonishing precision and regards Mon Chéri as a crisis-proof investment. A woman who could turn a dispute over a seat into a diplomatic mission and a box of chocolates into an instrument of international understanding.

From there the path leads straight into our present.

What does constant self-optimisation do to us? Why is mindfulness suddenly suspect? How much outrage can a society take? What does closeness mean in a time full of enemy images? Where does our longing for security come from? And how do you keep your sense of humour when your own body, world politics and online banking all demand attention at the same time?

“Du! An einem dieser Tage” combines autobiographical storytelling, acting, stand-up, political satire and direct encounters with the audience.

Majowski tells of crashes and new beginnings, of his work as an actor and author, of his time on “Let’s Dance”, of personal borderline experiences and of having lived clean for many years. Again and again, personal stories open up a view of larger questions in society.

The evening follows four movements: getting up, feeling, enduring, taking life into your own hands.

Direct. Personal. Funny. Political. Sometimes absurd, sometimes very close.

“Du! An einem dieser Tage” is an evening about us.

About our wonderful contradictions, our fears, our longing for closeness and this astonishing ability to get up again in the morning and carry on.

And somewhere Mother sits with her list, waiting for someone to finally see sense.

Yeah! 2025

Review

Review of the performance on 8 June 2025 at “Die Säule”, Duisburg, then under the title “Hoppla, Mama und ich.”

An evening that stays with you. And one that shows: attitude is not a pose. It is a muscle you can train – in your porridge, in a joke, in love.

Endlich allein

Komödie am Altstadtmarkt Braunschweig

Premiere: 20 January 2026, run and tour until 2 March 2026

Helene and George have reached a point many parents long for. The children have moved out. Everyday life promises order, time together and a new phase of life. The first scenes celebrate exactly this moment. Quiet hopes, clear plans, a newly discovered space between two people who have functioned for years.

Then the return begins. Michael, the eldest son, brings unrest with him. Highly focused, gifted, inwardly tense. His decision to abandon his doctorate and career raises questions no one can answer. Finally Robert comes back. Athletic, popular, seemingly carefree. He too finds the way back into his parents' home surprisingly comfortable and, together with his brothers, drives his parents almost to madness.

There is a detailed audience review of the performance. It was written by Klaudia Reichert, a nurse from Braunschweig.

It is a special event when a nurse writes such a personal and nuanced account of a play that has clearly moved her.

Erfahrung mit Dir – health, preservation, gratitude

I encourage my listeners to look from a new angle at medium-sized companies, people in social services, art, culture, society, science and the crafts. The motto is “I have invented something and want to talk about it” – informative and witty.

Every week I invite guests to a cheerful and informative interview on Zoom. Artists, doctors, people in social services, entrepreneurs and inventors open their toolbox and show how they did it. Refreshingly different.

Trockenbau meets Rilke

Gutskapelle Parow · August 2022

Trockenbau meets Rilke

Stralsund. “Trockenbau trifft Rilke” (Trockenbau meets Rilke) is the title of a musical evening on Saturday, 6 August 2022, at 19:00 in the Gutskapelle Parow.

I will recite poems by Rainer Maria Rilke. Joo-Hyun Kang plays the violin and Carola Allkoffer the piano. Afterwards there is a get-together with the “MeckPomm Tapas” and the Duo Mediterranea in the manor park.

The evening is organised by the Stralsund association “Trockenbau – Das Zirkuswagenprojekt” (the circus wagon project). It makes sure that people with and without a history of addiction have meaningful work and – as the name says – rebuild old chassis of circus and construction wagons. “This low-threshold offer in occupational therapy and daily structure creates a very good basis between aftercare facilities, clients and Trockenbau,” says Dirk Steiniger of the association.

As part of this, the organisers are also holding an information day in Stralsund with meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.

Weihnachten auf dem Balkon

Weihnachten auf dem Balkon

Christmas at last – the festival of love, of promises and of hopes of salvation. Christmas Eve is in full swing for two families living next door to each other. But instead of cosy peace and comfortable togetherness, the evening turns into a nightmare of middle-class harmony. The venue: the balcony at home. Two families, two balconies, plenty of potential for conflict…

A frazzled housewife, a happy expectant mother, a formidable mother-in-law, two pairs of completely different brothers, a stubborn child, a teenage goth, a fake doctor, a real butcher, a grandfather and, of course, a rather eccentric Father Christmas turn the family abysses into a highly entertaining spectacle for the audience…

And the special twist: twelve different roles but only six actors, who have to change their outfits in a flash, fuel the merry chaos even further.

A little comedy about desire in two acts
by Lars and Krister Classon
with Marie Theres Relin, Markus Majowski, Franziska Traub, Kerstin Fernström, David Daria and Sebastian Waldemer
Directed by Markus Majowski
Performed in Düsseldorf, Munich and Essen

A boulevard comedy at its finest, with everything fans and connoisseurs of the genre love: misdeeds, muddles, mix-ups, punchlines every second and above all the famous piece of information the audience must always have ahead of the characters!

Misdeeds: Last night Lisa had an incredibly hot encounter with a stranger, a young, good-looking business type, in the wellness grotto of a hotel. Yet Lisa is happily married… The choice of hotel was just a little unfortunate, because Lisa's husband Berti works in exactly this hotel...

Muddles: Today Lisa's sister Ulla is coming to visit to introduce her new boyfriend Fredrick, a young, good-looking business type who is already in town and spent last night in the hotel…

Mix-ups: Could Ulla's new boyfriend be Lisa's lover from the wellness grotto? Panic breaks out!!! Now, of course, everything must be done to stop Lisa and the business type from meeting, but he is already at the door.

Lisa's friend Gerda does everything to save the situation... and the comedy carousel starts to spin faster and faster.

A production of the Komödie im Bayerischen Hof, Munich.

Comedy in three acts

Bernhard's mother has died. What sounds like an everyday matter quickly grows into a big problem. Bernhard's mother was Jewish but married to a Christian who saved her life during the Third Reich. Her last and unshakeable wish is to be buried at his side in the municipal cemetery, yet according to her faith. Of course the son wants to fulfil his mother's wish, but that is anything but simple: a rabbi is forbidden to bury someone in a Christian cemetery, and a priest is not allowed to perform a Jewish rite.

And so a race against time begins, because according to Jewish tradition the deceased must be buried without delay. Bernhard's cousin, his wife and their daughter fly in from Israel and, more against each other than together, try to crack the problem. Then there is a Palestinian kiosk owner who does not make things easier – or perhaps he does? After four turbulent days in which the past flashes up and the characters sometimes get themselves out of trouble with paradoxes (“A Jew turns a problem into a joke, a German turns a joke into a problem”), with bizarre, strange and subtle encounters in funeral parlours and cemeteries, with rabbis, priests and the Palestinian, they finally resolve the absurd conflict.

DER KOSCHERE HIMMEL is based on the novel “Das jüdische Begräbnis” (The Jewish Funeral) by Lothar Schöne, which received excellent reviews in the arts pages of major German-language newspapers:

“A wonderfully funny story of an authentic case.” (Frankfurter Rundschau)

“A rare piece of literature: touching, funny and gripping at the same time.” (Süddeutsche Zeitung)

Musical-Literary Stumbling Stones Vol. 7

Musical-Literary Stumbling Stones Vol. 7

Experience outstanding chamber music by the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Hamburg live at the Hamburger Kammerspiele once again. The musical focus is on the composer Hans Krása.

Alongside this, I read texts by Amos Oz, Lion Feuchtwanger, Woody Allen and others.

On 21 February 2021 the festival year “1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany” opened in Cologne with a ceremony in the presence of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Throughout the year, numerous events across Germany recall Jewish history and also ask where we stand in dialogue today and how we want to shape the future together. With the twelve-part series “Musical-Literary Stumbling Stones” with the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Hamburg, the Hamburger Kammerspiele continue the theatre's tradition and celebrate how Jewish life enriches German culture.
